Dental Implants

If you have missing teeth you may consider options to replace them.

Dental Implants provide the foundations and supporting mechanism which allows custom made crowns, bridges and dentures to be securely held in place. This long term solution is becoming increasingly popular for both cosmetic and functional reasons, and may also help to retain bone levels giving support to the long term shape of the face.

What's involved

The bone is gently uncovered and a space is carefully created using a small series of drills. The titanium implant is then placed into this space. Often a temporary crown, bridge or denture may be placed at this stage, until the gum and bone mature. This

Over the following months, the bone fuses to the implant, making it a suitable fixture to attach the permanent crown, bridge or denture, which is custom made according to your needs, preferences and existing teeth.

How long it takes

On average, the entire process of from start to finish (ie permanent crown, bridge or denture fitted) can take 3 to 9 months (roughly 5 appointments)

  • Initial(free) Implant Consultation: approx 15 minutes
  • Record Taking: thorough assessment taking moulds, photo's and Xrays (approx 20 mins)
  • Placement: Placing the implant (60 to 90 mins)
  • Attach the temporary crown, bridge or denture (20 mins). This is often done at the same time as placement
  • 3 months afer the permanent crown, bridge or denture is placed

How long do dental implants last?

Implants have been reported to last over 40 years but inevitably it comes down to how well you maintain your oral hygiene.

How much it costs:

Every individual has individual needs. Costs may vary due to complexity, as well as the individual characteristics of restoration, but on average dental implants cost between £1,800 and £3,000.
